The regular meeting of the American Legion, Palm Valley Post 233, was held in the post meeting room on 7 August 2008 and was called to order by Commander Don Mills at 7:00p.m.

 

There was a quorum  present.

 

The minutes of the July meeting was approved as read by Bob Nagel.

 

A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept the following men as members of the post, Jack Dewitt, Bill Dewitt, Glen Masters, Fredrick Mott, and Jerry Adkins.

 

Finance report was given by Steve Hutchinson and is available for review by any member,.see a post officer or the canteen manager.

 

Our historian wants an off site location for archived records. The request was favorable.

 

A motion was made, seconded and passed to donate $150.00 to the St Johns County athletic association. Capt. Ski will deliver the funds.

 

A motion was made seconded and passed to make a donation jar available for folks who wanted to make a contribution to the post when ever free meals were served.

 

Patty O'Callahan will continue the printing of the news letter, Bill Lee will train her.

 

An ad hoc commitee was appointed to create a back up system for our computer files. The following  are our committee members.  Steve Sheffield, Steve Hutchinson, Roy Havekost and Patty O'Callahan.

 

A motion was made, seconded and approved to spend $300.00 to buy materials necessary to continue work on the roof. Johnny Jones will be the point man for the project.

 

Patty will donate an eagle for the flag in the meeting room.

 

The meeting was then adjourned.
