The regular meeting of the Palm Valley American Legion Post 233 was held in the post meeting room on 1-08-2009 and was called to order by Commander Don Mills at 7:00 pm. There was a quorum present.

There was a motion made to suspend opening rituals and the reading of the minutes, a second was made and the motion was approved. There was a pledge to our flag.

Oyster roast report, no cost to the legion.

Roof report, Commander suggested we move forward with Buster and that our Finance Officer work out the details. Ric Smith moved to accept the suggestion, second by Rod G.( and every body else) motion passed with no objections.

All funds from Capt. Ski's fish fry and golf tournament on May 2nd 09 will go toward paying for the roof. We expect to raise about $3,000.00 dollars.

Early bird dinner is scheduled for March 21st 2009. Patty will send out RSVP letters to all that have qualified.

Patty's house committee report, events will be posted on board.

Roy,s web site report. A copy is attached to these minutes. Roy made a motion to approve a $35.00 dollar request for 50, 11x17 color posters to be placed in outlets in and around St Johns County. There are 17,000 veterans in St Johns County and these posters will help draw attention to our post. Ric Smith seconded motion, approved with no objections.

Finance report given by Steve and a copy is attached to theses minutes.

Steve moved for approval to write a letter to the ALA and the SAL requesting contributions to help cover expenses for the roof and insrance payments. It is their responsibility to help with legion expenses. Seconded by Ric Smith. motion passed with no objections.

Commander Mills adjourned the meeting at 7:47pm.
