Minutes of the General Meeting Sept 7, 2007

The meeting convened at 7:06pm with 10 officers and 7 members present.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

The Adjutant read in 5 new members and one reinstatement. All were approved.

Correspondence was read regarding 5th District activities. The Post 400 program was outlined as requested by Dist. Comdr. Members at large nationally are assigned each state by home address. Posts are then located closest to the member and follow up is required. The National Post 400 members are being assigned to each state this year. Local Posts will then be the contact point for 2008 and forward. Rod Garring and Roy Havekost agreed to handle the first group by supplied phone numbers.

2nd  Vice Bob S. reported kitchen cooks are a work in progress, Kathy Church offered to assist with special functions in addition to her bartender and auxiliary duties.

House Comm Chair Dick S. reported on the 4 functions pending; a social with Rosie and the Beachcombers, the Halloween program, the Rod Stewart show and the bake sale. The resignation of Joyce Wright and appointment of Diane Beason as interim manager were outlined.

A discussion of wall hangings and posting of business cards on the club interior was covered. It is now a work in progress. A larger bulletin board may cover part of this issue.

Financial report was discussed and approved.

Johnny J. reviewed the roof replacement and building repairs. The proposal was presented and approved by the E-Board with a cap of $8000.00. The project will begin late Sept or early Oct. Gutters and parking lot improvements will be covered at a later date.

Website discussion by Roy Havekost resulted in a proposal to be developed. A possible cost of $45.00 per month for 11 months was outlined, details TBA.

District 5 meeting will be here Oct 7th at 2:00pm. The auxiliary will assist in the kitchen.

The Patriots Day Golf program raised $400.00.

On Sept 29th the American Legion Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held in Winterhaven hosted by Post 8. Details are on the bulletin board.

Wilber B. reported the Morrocco Schrine Scottish Rite Golf Tournament will be held on October 3, 2007 at the Millcove Golf Club on Monument Road. Hole sponsors are $60.00 each. Wilber, Johnny, Chuck and Bob N. agreed to support this program.

The possibility of supporting a Boy Scout troop was discussed. No action was taken.

Johnny J. requested we secure our American Legion Preamble banner. Yours truly agreed to complete this mission.
