1st   Vice Commander report, December, 2010

During the first half of my 2010-2011 term of office as First Vice Commander  I  received requests for and mailed out only six  transfer request letters and data information forms to prospective new members.  No Project Stay Active sheets were received from Department for the necessary follow-up of legionnaires who recently moved into our area. The sidewalk membership drive that was setup for September and October was not successful due to a lack of volunteers.   Two electronic databases containing member names, membership numbers, and addresses were created for both the legion (421 members) and the SAL (100 members). The databases will be used to print mailing labels and will be retained in house only for legion purposes. In the past six months I logged a total of 36 hours of volunteer time as 1st Vice.

The following is a brief summary of the 2010 year of website activities.  The Post website attracted a total of 15,056 visitors who viewed 35,647 pages of information.  Currently the website contains 2,759 pages of information and more than 855 pictures/images and more than 30 picture slideshows.  Meeting minutes, officer’s reports, newsletters and special events as well as menus, legion bulletins and Past Commanders are just some of the information that is archived on the website. Archived information currently dates back to 2007, with Past Commanders information dating back to the establishment of Post 233 in 1971.

During 2010 we had a total of 14 business cards and 6 boosters advertised in both the newsletter and on our website. So far in 2011 we have 6 business card advertisers and 1 booster being advertised. Card advertising is $25.00 per year from January thru December and can be prorated monthly. Booster advertising is by name only and for any amount donated. Other legion websites that I have researched ask for much more annually and are not successful at all.

In 2010 I received and reviewed over 1,000 legion emails via the website, many of which are automatically redirected to the appropriate officer. Other email information received may be posted on the website or included in a newsletter, and yes spam is automatically sent to the junk email folder and then deleted.

The current disk usage of the website is 360.33 MB of the 300,000 MB allotted.

During the year 2010 I logged a total 247.5 of volunteer website service hours,  and donated  $315.00 for the annual cost of hosting and licensing of the Post website.
